National, social justice think tank based in New York City doubles its organizational capacity and raises its national profile by re-envisioning leadership and adopting an innovative structure.
The founding executive director of this highly networked organization with national reach but a small staff, struggled with the limits to growth inherent in the structure. She used coaching sessions with Strategies for Change Now to clarify her personal vision of success, and think through alternative structures and a growth strategy. As a result, she built support for a new organization structure among her colleagues, and tapped into their shared network to identify and recruit a co-director. This new leadership team is effectively extending the range and depth of their work by generating new research, supporting work in new regions of the country, and expanding the networks that are the vehicle for disseminating best practices driving social change.
