A regional environmental organization developed a strategic plan that laid the groundwork for more than five years of action, tangible results, and expanded impact.
Having undergone a major transition in executive leadership, the new director was eager to integrate his ideas for the future of the organization with the perspectives and significant expertise of the staff. He wanted to establish consensus among the staff—and with the board of directors—about the organization’s future direction and strategic priorities. Strategies for Change Now designed and facilitated a series of planning workshops that drew upon best practices in strategy development and group process. These included two-day long planning retreats with all staff, stakeholder consultations, and board-level discussions. As a result of this work, the organization went on to achieve significant growth and a doubling of the organization’s capacity, budgets and impact in the following five years.
